Shabbat RetreatS

Shabbat is the eternal Jewish day of rest, its centerpiece the Shabbat meal. For thousands of years, Jews have taken a respite from the distractions of the week to assemble with friends, relatives, and guests, sanctifying the gathering with wine, food, and song.

For you, the Shabbat meal is an opportunity to unwind with old and new friends after a stressful week, to take in the spirituality of the ageless traditions or simply to enjoy the hospitality and cheer of a Jewish home-away-from-home. Shabbat is a uniquely Jewish experience.  Once you've taken part you're sure to realize it was familiar all along.

JOIN US FOR A DELICOUS, FREE FRIDAY NIGHT DINNER!

The Meor Friday night dinner takes place in the historic neighborhood of the Lower East Side where many of our ancestors started out in this country. A free shuttle leaves from in front of Weinstein (Weinstein dorm, 5 University Pl, between 8th Street and Waverly) one hour before sunset. (Contact us (link) for the exact time) Enjoy welcoming Shabbat services in the beautiful and historic Bialystocker Synagogue (711 Willit St. right across 500 Grand Street, a couple blocks from the FDR drive), followed by a delicious home cooked dinner compliments of Rabbi E’s wonderful & talented wife, Tzipporah.

Please RSVP below. Please dress modestly as it is an observant community. Also, being that observant Jews do not carry in the Lower East Side, there will be a drop box left with the guard in Weinstein dorm for those students who would like to leave any items.

Rabbi E will be there the whole Shabbat with his family. Anyone that would like to join the E’s for the entire Shabbat is invited to do so, please indicate this in your RSVP
